1967:
Disneyland's attraction Adventure Thru Inner Space opens on this day in
Tomorrowland (in the space once used for the 20,000 Leagues
Under The Sea Exhibit). Guests are transported through a microscope where they are
shrunken down and sent off to explore the inside of an atom. Featuring the voice of Paul Frees &
the song "Miracles from Molecules" written by the Sherman Brothers, it is the first to use the
OmniMover system - called Atomobiles - to transport guests.
1981:
At Walt Disney World, site work begins on Horizons, an attraction in the
not yet open EPCOT Center. (Actual construction on Horizon's building won't begin until
January 1982, and both the attraction and EPCOT will open the following October.)
1997:
Disney's Pooh's Grand Adventure: The Search for Christopher Robin is released direct-to-video. This marks the last time Paul Winchell voices the character of Tigger in a film (though he will voice the character for the television special Winnie The Pooh: A Valentine For You in 1999). The
Search for Christopher Robin will be nominated for 5 Annie Awards the following year.

Actress/singer Olivia Holt is born in Germantown, Tennessee. Disney Channel fans will recognize her from the film Girl vs. Monster and the series I Didn't Do It. She also starred in the Disney XD series Kickin' It. In 2014 she supplied the voice of Morgan for Tinker Bell and the Legend of the NeverBeast.

Walt Disney World welcomes its 400-millionth guest Brandon Adams, a 10-year-old from Maryland. Amid the clang of bells and a shower of confetti, the sixth-grade student from Baltimore dances joyously with Mickey Mouse after stepping through the turnstiles at Disney-MGM Studios Theme Park just after 10 a.m. Brandon and his family will be given lifetime passes to all Disney parks worldwide!

Walt Disney Productions releases The Aristocats (the twentieth
animated feature in the Disney animated features canon) in Australia.
1987:
Disney's Touchstone Pictures releases the adventure comedy feature Stakeout.
Directed by John Badham, the film features Richard Dreyfuss and Emilio Estevez as Seattle detectives assigned to the night shift on a stake-out of waitress Maria McGuire, played by Madeleine Stowe. Her former boyfriend, Richard "Stick" Montgomery, played by Aidan Quinn, has escaped from prison. It is believed he may return to Maria. To complicate things further, Detective Lecce (Dreyfuss) is falling for Maria. The cast also includes Forest Whitaker as Detective Jack Pismo and Dan Lauria as Detective Phil Coldshank. (A sequel, "Another Stakeout," will follow in 1993.)

The 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea Exhibit opens in Tomorrowland at Disneyland.
The walk-through exhibit features props and set pieces from the 1954 blockbuster release 20,000 Leagues
Under the Sea. Guests can view the exterior of the Nautilus, Professor Aronnax's cabin, the pump room, the chart
room, the diving chamber, the wheelhouse and the famous organ (which will later reside in Disneyland's Haunted
Mansion ballroom). The exhibit will remain open until August 28, 1966 (and ultimately be replaced with Star Tours).

The "Armadillo" rugged drilling machine from Touchstone Pictures' Armageddon (in release since July 1) is placed on display at Disney-MGM Studios in Florida.

The grand opening ceremony and media event for the new restaurant in
the Italy pavilion, Via Napoli, takes place at Epcot. Operated by the Patina Restaurant Group, the 300-seat Via Napoli features a menu inspired by the famous pizzerias of southern Italy.
2011:
Disney Channel's Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Across the 2nd Dimension,
an offshoot from the channel's successful series, airs for the first time in the U.S., Canada, and Hong Kong. Phineas and Ferb discover that Perry is a secret agent, and they all get stuck in
an alternate dimension where Doofenschmirtz is the ruler of the tri-state area. Featuring the voice cast from the series, the much-anticipated animated special draws 7.6 million viewers.
Radio Disney celebrates 15 years on the air with a Radio Disney Birthday Jam
at the Hard Rock Cafe in New York City. Radio Disney was launched on November 18, 1996 at
5:58 A.M. EST with the song "Get Ready For This" (by Belgium-Holland dance group 2 Unlimited).

Disney's Touchstone Pictures releases The Rescue. When a group of Navy SEAL officers are captured while on a secret mission off North Korea, the U.S. government hesitates to use force to rescue them, despite the threat of their impending execution as spies. Toni Morrison passes away at age 88 in New York City. Her 1987 novel Beloved (which won the Pulitzer Prize and the American Book Award in 1988) was adapted into a feature film by Touchstone Pictures and Harpo Films. Distributed by Disney's Buena Vista Pictures, the 1998 film starred Oprah Winfrey, Danny Glover, and Thandie Newton.

Actor Robert Taylor is born in Filley, Nebraska. One of the most popular leading men of his time, he starred in Disney's 1963 Miracle of the White Stallions, playing Colonel Podhajsky. Back in June 1938, Taylor (who was just starting his long career) and Walt Disney were both passengers on a train bound for New York City. They didn't meet until they both got off the train and were mobbed by the New York press. Taylor's popularity increased during the late 1930s and 1940s with appearances in A Yank at Oxford (1938), Waterloo Bridge (1940), and Bataan (1943).
